Private Jet to Nice
Nice is the busiest business aviation airport on the Mediterranean and the gateway to Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and the Riviera: a dedicated terminal fifteen minutes from the Promenade, two hours from London, and a helicopter to Monaco in seven minutes.
Which airport for Nice.
Nice takes every jet in the fleet and sits closest to Monaco and the Promenade; Cannes-Mandelieu is for light jets heading to Cannes itself, and in Grand Prix week it is also the way around a full apron at Nice.
| Airport | To the centre | Runway | Jets that fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nice Côte d'Azur NCE | 7 km, 15 to 20 min to the Promenade des Anglais | 2,963 m | 70 of 70 VIP airliner |
| Cannes-Mandelieu CEQ | 10 min to La Croisette, about 35 min to Nice | 1,540 m | 39 of 70 Heavy jet |
Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE): The Riviera's business aviation hub: a dedicated general aviation terminal with its own customs, handling for every jet size, and a heliport on the field for Monaco (7 min), Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Slots are coordinated from May to September, so the operator applies as soon as the date is fixed.
Cannes-Mandelieu (CEQ): The small-aircraft alternative: a 1,540 m runway and a 22-tonne weight limit, so light jets and turboprops only, with no slot pressure and a drive of minutes to Cannes, Mougins and the Esterel coast.
Rule of thumb: published take-off distance at maximum weight, sea level, a standard day and a dry runway. Altitude, weather and airport rules can still rule out an aircraft the runway allows. Check any airport in the runway checker

Indicative one-way prices for the whole aircraft, all-inclusive: crew, fuel, handling, landing fees and catering, from operator pricing seen by our desk in autumn 2026. The Monaco helicopter is a separate leg from about €1,000 per flight. Grand Prix week, Cannes festival dates and August positioning move the figures. Nice through the year.
May. The month the Riviera fills: the Cannes Film Festival in the middle of the month and the Monaco Grand Prix at the end. Airport parking at Nice is sold out weeks ahead, helicopters shuttle to Monaco from dawn, and Cannes-Mandelieu takes the overflow.
March. MIPIM brings the property world to Cannes for a week, with a short, sharp peak at both airports and in the hotels along the Croisette.
June. Cannes Lions and the first beach-club weeks; still easy slots at Nice and the best weather of the year for Saint-Tropez by helicopter.
July and August. High summer. The apron is busy every weekend, Saint-Tropez and the islands are at capacity, and positioning flights push prices up; a weekday arrival is cheaper and calmer.
Late September. The Monaco Yacht Show closes the season with four days of heavy business traffic, then October is warm, quiet and good value.
November to February. The quiet months: the mistral and the odd storm, but mild days, empty roads and the same airport without the queues. Christmas and the Monte-Carlo Rally in January are the only spikes.
Nice, in brief.
Where to stay
Nice itself has the Negresco on the Promenade and the quieter Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc twenty minutes west at Cap d’Antibes. Monaco is the Hôtel de Paris and the Hermitage around the Casino square, with the Monte-Carlo Beach for a resort day. Cannes means the Carlton and the Martinez on the Croisette; Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, between Nice and Monaco, is the village of villas with the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat at its tip. For a week with a group, the villas of Cap d’Antibes, Cap Ferrat and the hills above Saint-Tropez are the usual choice, most with a driver.
What to do
The coast road from Nice to Menton is the day out: Villefranche, Èze above the sea, Monaco’s harbour and the Italian border market at Ventimiglia on Fridays. Art is everywhere within an hour: the Matisse and Chagall museums in Nice, the Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Picasso in Antibes. Boats leave Nice and Antibes for the Lérins islands, Saint-Tropez and the Esterel calanques; the Mercantour peaks are 90 minutes inland for hiking in summer and skiing at Isola 2000 in winter.
Getting around
Chauffeured cars meet every flight at the terminal door, and the coast’s helicopters are a working taxi service: Monaco in 7 minutes, Cannes in 10, Saint-Tropez in 20. Road traffic on the A8 and the Basse Corniche is heavy from 8 to 10 and 5 to 7, worse in July and August and in Grand Prix week, when Monaco itself closes to cars for the circuit.
Good to know
The season runs from Easter to the Yacht Show; many beach clubs close in October and reopen in April. Restaurants on the Croisette and in Monaco need a reservation in high season and keep a dress code in the evening. The weather is mild all year, with the mistral bringing clear, windy days in winter; summer rarely passes 32 °C on the coast. Monaco uses the euro and French is the language everywhere, though English is spoken in every hotel.
Before you fly to Nice.
How long is a private jet flight to Nice from London?
About 1 h 50 in a light jet from Luton, Farnborough or Biggin Hill, 1 h 20 from Paris, an hour from Geneva or Zurich. From Dubai it is about 6 h 30 non-stop in a heavy jet.
Which airport should I use for the Riviera?
Nice for almost everything: it takes every aircraft type, has its own business aviation terminal and is 15 minutes from the Promenade, 7 minutes from Monaco by helicopter. Cannes-Mandelieu only for light jets and turboprops heading to Cannes itself, or when Nice's apron is full in Grand Prix week.
How much does a private jet to Nice cost?
From about €5,000 one way from Milan or €5,500 from Geneva in a light jet, about €9,500 from London, about €55,000 from Dubai in a heavy jet. The whole aircraft is priced, not the seat; Nice is also one of the best routes in Europe for empty legs in both directions.
How do I get to Monaco from Nice airport?
By helicopter in seven minutes from the heliport on the airport, landing at Monaco's Fontvieille heliport where the hotel car waits; or by road in 35 to 50 minutes depending on the time of day. We book the helicopter with the jet so the two connect on the apron.
How far ahead should I book?
A day or two outside the peaks, and same-day is often possible. For the Grand Prix, the Cannes festival and August weekends, book three to four weeks ahead: the limit is airport parking at Nice, not aircraft.
Can I fly on to Saint-Tropez or Corsica?
Yes. Saint-Tropez is 20 minutes by helicopter to La Môle or the Grimaud heliport; Corsica is 45 minutes by light jet to Calvi, Figari or Ajaccio. Both can be added to the same booking with one advisor.
Is Nice airport open at night?
Yes, 24 hours, with a night-time noise regime that steers some aircraft types to daytime; your advisor checks the type against the arrival time before quoting. Cannes-Mandelieu closes overnight.
