Private Jet to Riyadh
Riyadh is a straightforward long-haul arrival once the landing permit is filed: one 24-hour airport with its own private terminal, a non-stop flight of five to six and a half hours from almost anywhere in Europe, and a city that has opened to visitors.
Which airport for Riyadh.
There is one choice, and it is a good one: King Khalid takes every jet in the reference fleet, so planning comes down to the landing permit and the drive into town.
| Airport | To the centre | Runway | Jets that fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| King Khalid International RUH | About 35 km, 35 to 45 min to the centre and KAFD | 4,205 m | 70 of 70 VIP airliner |
King Khalid International (RUH): The only airport for the city. Private flights use the dedicated private aviation terminal with its own customs and immigration, and the airport runs 24 hours. Landing permits come from the civil aviation authority and take a few working days; the operator files them for you.
Rule of thumb: published take-off distance at maximum weight, sea level, a standard day and a dry runway. Altitude, weather and airport rules can still rule out an aircraft the runway allows. Check any airport in the runway checker

Riyadh through the year.
October to March. Riyadh Season turns the city into an events calendar: concerts, Boulevard City, exhibitions and the busiest months for private arrivals. Book aircraft and parking two weeks ahead for its big weekends.
Late February. The Saudi Cup, the world's richest horse race, fills the hotels and the private terminal for a long weekend; confirm by early February.
Ramadan. In 2027 it falls in February and March. Business hours shorten, restaurants open after sunset and the pace slows; flights run normally.
Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Public holidays of several days with heavy outbound demand to Jeddah, Dubai and Europe; the Hajj period in May adds pressure at Jeddah rather than Riyadh.
May to September. Daytime temperatures above 45 °C. Flights run normally with early-morning departures preferred; hotel rates are at their lowest.
November to February. The pleasant months: 20 to 25 °C by day, cool evenings, and the desert at its best for the Edge of the World and overnight camps.
Riyadh, in brief.
Where to stay
The King Abdullah Financial District and the Diplomatic Quarter are the business end of the city, 35 to 45 minutes from the airport: the Four Seasons in the Kingdom Centre, the Ritz-Carlton in its palace grounds, the Fairmont and the Hyatt Regency in Olaya. Diriyah, on the north-west edge, is where the new luxury hotels are opening beside the UNESCO-listed At-Turaif, and it is quieter at night than the centre. For a long weekend, a villa in the Diplomatic Quarter looks over Wadi Hanifa; for meetings in KAFD, a hotel within walking distance saves the drive across town.
What to do
At-Turaif, the mud-brick birthplace of the Saudi state, is the one sight not to skip; go at dusk when the walls are lit. The Edge of the World, a cliff line over the Tuwaiq escarpment, is ninety minutes north-west by four-wheel drive and best as an afternoon trip into sunset. Boulevard City carries the restaurants, cinemas and concerts of Riyadh Season from October to March. The National Museum and the Masmak Fort fill a morning; the Kingdom Centre sky bridge fills ten minutes with the best view of the city. With a free day, Wadi Hanifa on the edge of town has new parks and waterside restaurants, and AlUla is about an hour and a half by air and worth a day of its own.
Getting around
The private terminal has chauffeured cars at the door, and the hotels send their own. The city is built for the car: distances are long, the new metro helps on the Olaya and KAFD axis, and traffic peaks from 7 to 9 in the morning and 4 to 7 in the evening. Allow an hour to the airport at those times. Ride-hailing apps work reliably; a car with a driver is the calmer option for several meetings in a day.
Good to know
The weekend is Friday and Saturday, and business runs Sunday to Thursday. Alcohol is not available anywhere, and none may be brought in. Dress is conservative in public, though the rules for visitors have relaxed since 2019. The riyal is pegged to the US dollar and cards are accepted everywhere. Riyadh is two hours ahead of central Europe in winter and one in summer, so a morning departure from Europe lands mid-afternoon.
Before you fly to Riyadh.
How long is a private jet flight to Riyadh from Europe?
Five to six and a half hours non-stop: about 6 h 15 from London, 6 h from Paris, 5 h 30 from Geneva or Frankfurt and 5 h 10 from Munich. A heavy or long-range jet flies it non-stop; a super-midsize jet usually needs a fuel stop, often in Cyprus or Türkiye.
Which airport serves Riyadh for private jets?
King Khalid International (RUH), 35 km north of the centre. It has a dedicated private aviation terminal with its own customs and immigration, 24-hour operation and a runway that takes any jet. There is no alternative in the city, so timing is about the drive, not the airport.
How much does a private jet to Riyadh cost?
From about €50,000 one way from Milan or Munich in a heavy jet to about €62,000 from London, and from about €12,000 for the short hop from Dubai in a midsize jet. The whole aircraft is priced, so six passengers pay the same as two. Empty legs between Riyadh, Jeddah and Dubai appear often.
Do I need a visa for Saudi Arabia?
Citizens of the EU, the UK, the US and most of Europe can apply for an e-visa online in minutes or receive a visa on arrival. Business visitors often travel on an invitation-based business visa. We check the passports on board when you ask for the quote and tell you what applies.
How far in advance should I book?
Allow three working days outside the peak, because the landing permit needs that time; the operator files it. For the Saudi Cup weekend, Eid and the big Riyadh Season dates, two weeks gives the best choice of aircraft and guarantees parking.
Can I continue to Jeddah, Dubai or Doha on the same aircraft?
Yes. Jeddah is 1 h 40 away, Doha about an hour, Dubai under two. The same aircraft and crew can stay with you for a Gulf itinerary, or we position a light jet for the short legs and keep the long-range jet for the way home.
What should I know about customs and dress?
Alcohol is prohibited and cannot be carried into the country, including in the aircraft bar. Dress is conservative in public; the abaya is no longer required for women, but covered shoulders and knees are expected. The weekend is Friday and Saturday.
What is the baggage allowance?
It depends on the aircraft, not on a rule. A heavy jet takes large suitcases for everyone on board; a light jet from Jeddah or Doha is tighter. Tell us what you are bringing and we match the aircraft.
