Private Jet to Jeddah

Jeddah is the Red Sea gateway and the airport for Makkah: one 24-hour airport with a private terminal, a non-stop flight of five to six hours from almost anywhere in Europe, and a calendar that needs planning around Ramadan and the Hajj.

Airports

Which airport for Jeddah.

One airport and one long runway that takes every jet in the reference fleet; what needs planning is the calendar, because the pilgrimage seasons fill King Abdulaziz before anything else.

  • King Abdulaziz International (JED): The only airport for the city and the gateway to Makkah, an hour south, and Madinah. Private flights use the private aviation terminal with its own customs and immigration, 24 hours a day. Around the Hajj and the last ten nights of Ramadan the airport is at capacity and parking must be confirmed early.

Rule of thumb: published take-off distance at maximum weight, sea level, a standard day and a dry runway. Altitude, weather and airport rules can still rule out an aircraft the runway allows. Check any airport in the runway checker

When to Go

Jeddah through the year.

November to March. The pleasant months on the Red Sea: 25 to 30 °C, calm seas for diving, and the Red Sea Film Festival in December. The best time for a leisure stay.

Ramadan. In 2027 it falls in February and March. Umrah traffic peaks in the last ten nights, when the airport, its parking and the hotels near the Grand Mosque are full; confirm parking and slots at least two weeks ahead.

Hajj. Around mid-May 2027 the airport is dedicated to pilgrim flights for several days on either side, and charter arrivals are restricted; we plan the dates around it.

Spring. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on the Corniche street circuit fills the city's hotels for a long weekend; book two weeks ahead.

Summer. Jeddah Season brings concerts and events from June to August. Days are hot and humid at 38 to 40 °C; flights run normally with morning departures preferred.

Eid holidays. Several days each after Ramadan and after the Hajj, with strong demand to and from Europe and the Gulf.

In Brief

Jeddah, in brief.

Where to stay

The Corniche is the address for a stay in the city: the Ritz-Carlton on its lagoon, the Park Hyatt beside the marina, the Shangri-La at the northern end of the waterfront, all 25 to 35 minutes from the private terminal. Al-Balad, the old town, has small restored houses turned into guesthouses for a night among the coral-stone buildings. For a resort week, the new hotels on the northern Red Sea coast are a drive or a short flight away, and the business hotels around the King Abdullah Economic City serve the port and the industrial zone to the north.

What to do

Al-Balad, the UNESCO-listed historic centre, is best walked in the late afternoon when the souks open and the wooden rawasheen balconies catch the light. The Corniche runs for thirty kilometres with the King Fahd fountain, sculptures and the Formula 1 circuit along it. The Red Sea off Jeddah has some of the clearest diving in the world, with wrecks and reefs an hour by boat. Makkah is an hour south and open to Muslim visitors only; Taif, in the mountains two hours east, is the cool escape in summer, and Madinah is a four-hour drive or a short flight.

Getting around

Chauffeured cars meet the aircraft at the private terminal and the hotels send their own. The city is long and thin along the coast, so most trips run north to south on the King Abdulaziz and Madinah roads; traffic is heaviest in the evening, when Jeddah comes alive. Allow 40 minutes to the airport at those hours. The high-speed Haramain train links the airport with Makkah in about 30 minutes and Madinah in about two hours.

Good to know

The weekend is Friday and Saturday. Alcohol is not available and may not be brought in. Dress is conservative, though Jeddah is the most relaxed of the Saudi cities. The riyal is pegged to the US dollar and cards are accepted everywhere. Jeddah is two hours ahead of central Europe in winter and one in summer; in Ramadan the city shifts to the night, with restaurants busy until the early hours.

Questions

Before you fly to Jeddah.

How long is a private jet flight to Jeddah from Europe?

Five to six hours non-stop: about 6 h from London, 5 h 45 from Paris, 5 h 15 from Frankfurt and under 5 h from Munich or Milan. A heavy or long-range jet flies it non-stop; a super-midsize jet usually needs a fuel stop in Cyprus or Egypt.

Which airport serves Jeddah for private jets?

King Abdulaziz International (JED), 20 km north of the Corniche. Its private aviation terminal has its own customs and immigration and runs 24 hours; the runway takes any jet. It is also the airport for Makkah, an hour south by road, and for Madinah.

How much does a private jet to Jeddah cost?

From about €48,000 one way from Milan or Munich in a heavy jet to about €60,000 from London, from about €19,000 from Dubai in a midsize jet, and about €9,000 from Riyadh in a light jet. The whole aircraft is priced, not the seat.

Can I fly privately to Jeddah for Umrah or the Hajj?

Yes, and many of our clients do. For Umrah any date works, with the last ten nights of Ramadan needing early confirmation. For the Hajj the airport is restricted to pilgrim traffic around the pilgrimage dates, so the arrival and departure are planned a few days either side, and the Hajj visa itself is required.

Do I need a visa for Saudi Arabia?

Citizens of the EU, the UK, the US and most of Europe apply for an e-visa online or receive a visa on arrival; business travellers often hold an invitation-based business visa. Non-Muslims cannot enter Makkah. We check the passports on board when you ask for the quote.

How far in advance should I book?

Three working days outside the peak, for the landing permit the operator files. Around Ramadan, the Hajj, Eid and the Grand Prix weekend, two weeks gives the best choice of aircraft and guarantees parking.

Can I continue to Riyadh, Dubai or the Red Sea resorts?

Yes. Riyadh is 1 h 40 away and Dubai under three hours. The new resorts on the northern Red Sea coast are reached by road from Jeddah or through a new resort airport to the north, which we can include in the itinerary.

What should I know about customs and dress?

Alcohol is prohibited and cannot be carried into the country, including in the aircraft bar. Dress is conservative in public; the weekend is Friday and Saturday. Jeddah is more relaxed than Riyadh, and the Corniche and Al-Balad are easy for visitors.
