Private Jet to Phuket
Phuket is the Andaman's private aviation gateway: a 24-hour international airport with its own private terminal, villas from Kamala to Cape Yamu within an hour of the apron, and Krabi and Koh Samui as direct alternatives when the trip is really about the bay or the Gulf.
Which airport for Phuket.
Phuket for the island itself, Krabi when the trip is Phang Nga Bay, Samui when it is the Gulf side; all three clear customs on arrival.
| Airport | To the centre | Runway | Jets that fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phuket International HKT | About 32 km, 45 min to Patong; 20 min to Mai Khao and Bang Tao | 3,100 m | 70 of 70 VIP airliner |
| Krabi KBV | About 2 h by road and boat from Phuket; 30 min to Ao Nang | 3,000 m | 70 of 70 VIP airliner |
| Koh Samui USM | 15 min to Chaweng and Bophut; on the Gulf side, not the Andaman | 2,060 m | 69 of 70 VIP airliner |
Phuket International (HKT): The island's only airport, at its northern tip: 24-hour operation, a private terminal with its own customs and immigration, and the northern villa coast on the doorstep. In high season slots and overnight parking are tight, so the operator applies early.
Krabi (KBV): The direct arrival for Phang Nga Bay, Railay and the Krabi resorts. Flying here instead of Phuket saves a half-day transfer, and the runway is long enough for midsize and heavy jets.
Koh Samui (USM): The runway takes most jets, but the airport is airline-owned, slot-limited and needs prior permission, so larger types are not always accepted. Right when the trip is Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao.
Rule of thumb: published take-off distance at maximum weight, sea level, a standard day and a dry runway. Altitude, weather and airport rules can still rule out an aircraft the runway allows. Check any airport in the runway checker

Indicative one-way prices for the whole aircraft, all-inclusive: crew, fuel, handling, landing fees and catering. They reflect operator pricing seen by our desk in autumn 2026. Ultra-long-range flights from Europe are quoted individually, because crew duty limits can add a stop and a second crew; positioning and the peak dates from mid-December to mid-January move the figures. A quote names the actual aircraft and holds the price.
Phuket through the year.
November to March. High season: dry days, calm Andaman water and the villa coast at its best. Phuket's parking and slots are the constraint from mid-December; book two to three weeks ahead.
Christmas and New Year. Overnight parking at Phuket sells out, resorts impose minimum stays and the harbours are full. Confirm aircraft, stand and villa together, ideally by early November.
Chinese New Year. 6 February in 2027: a second peak, with charter demand from Hong Kong, Singapore and China. Expect a busy apron for the surrounding week.
Songkran, 13 to 15 April. Thai New Year and the water festival. The airports operate normally; the roads and the old town do not. A good week for a villa, a bad one for meetings.
May to October. Green season: afternoon rain, a rougher west coast and the lowest rates of the year. Flights operate normally, and Phang Nga Bay and the east coast stay calm.
October. The Vegetarian Festival runs for nine days in the old town, with processions that close streets. The dates follow the lunar calendar; ask before you fix a date.
Phuket, in brief.
Where to stay
The island’s private side runs down the west and north-east coasts. Amanpuri at Pansea Beach and Trisara above Layan are the two names that define it, with Rosewood on Emerald Bay near Patong and the Banyan Tree estate at Laguna for families. The villa coast is Kamala, Surin, Layan and Bang Tao, all within 40 minutes of the airport; Cape Yamu on the quiet east side faces Phang Nga Bay and is 30 minutes from the terminal. In the far north, the Mai Khao resorts are a 20-minute drive and the closest beds to the apron.
What to do
Phang Nga Bay is the reason most clients come: a day by yacht or speedboat among the limestone islands, lunch at a floating village and an afternoon in a sea cave. Phi Phi and the Similan Islands are longer days, the Similans only from November to April. On the island, the old town’s Sino-Portuguese streets and the Sunday market fill an evening, and the golf at Blue Canyon and Red Mountain is the best in the south. Muay Thai, cooking schools and the elephant sanctuaries round out a family week.
Getting around
Every resort sends a car to the private terminal, and we arrange one for villa guests. The airport is at the island’s northern tip, so the north coast is 20 minutes and Patong, Kata and Rawai 45 to 60, longer in the evening on the one coast road. Boats are the better way to move once you are there: the marinas at Ao Po and Yacht Haven are 25 to 30 minutes from the airport, and most resorts have their own pier or tender.
Good to know
Phuket is six hours ahead of central Europe in winter and five in summer, so an overnight flight lands in the morning and the day is yours. Thailand is warm all year; December to February is the coolest and driest, April the hottest. The baht is the currency, cards work in hotels and restaurants, and cash is useful in markets and on boats. Dress is relaxed except in temples. Phuket, Krabi and Samui each clear customs on arrival, so an itinerary that uses two of them needs no extra paperwork.
Before you fly to Phuket.
How long is a private jet flight to Phuket from Europe?
About 12 h 30 direct from London and 11 h 30 from Frankfurt or Milan in an ultra-long-range jet. A heavy jet makes one technical stop, usually in the Gulf or in India, which adds about ninety minutes, and the longest sectors carry a second crew for duty-time reasons.
Which airport should I use for Phuket?
Phuket International for the island: it is 20 minutes from the northern resorts and 45 from Patong, with a private terminal that clears customs on arrival. Krabi if the trip is Phang Nga Bay or Railay, which saves a two-hour transfer. Samui only for the Gulf side, and with a light or midsize jet.
How much does a private jet to Phuket cost?
From about €140,000 one way from Frankfurt and €150,000 from London in an ultra-long-range jet, and from about €58,000 from Dubai in a heavy jet. From Singapore or Bangkok a light jet is €7,500 to €9,500, which is the common way to reach the island after a long-haul airline flight. The whole aircraft is priced, not the seat.
Do I need a visa for Thailand?
Most EU and UK passports enter visa-free for a short stay, as do US, Swiss and Gulf passports; the permitted length has changed more than once; six months of passport validity is checked. On a private flight, immigration and customs are handled at the private terminal in a few minutes. Tell us the passports on board and we confirm the current rule for each.
How far in advance should I book?
Outside the peak weeks, two to three days for a regional jet and about a week for an ultra-long-range aircraft from Europe. From mid-December to mid-January and for Chinese New Year, three to four weeks secures overnight parking at Phuket, which is the real bottleneck.
Can the jet wait in Phuket for the return?
Yes, if parking is confirmed in advance; in high season it often cannot be, and the aircraft repositions to Bangkok or Singapore between the legs. For a stay of more than three or four days, a return on a second aircraft is usually cheaper than keeping one on the ground.
Can I reach the villa or the yacht directly from the airport?
The northern villas at Mai Khao, Bang Tao and Layan are 20 minutes by car, Kamala and Surin about 35, Cape Yamu 30. Helicopter transfers to a yacht or a resort can be arranged, and yacht charters leave from the Ao Po and Yacht Haven marinas, both 25 to 30 minutes from the terminal.
What is the baggage allowance?
It depends on the aircraft. An ultra-long-range jet takes large suitcases, dive gear and golf bags for everyone on board; a light jet for the Singapore or Bangkok hop is tighter, so we match it to the luggage you name, or send the excess ahead.
